Just two minutes away from Thamel is the beautiful restored Garden of Dreams (Swapna Bagaicha). Field master Kaiser Samsher (1892-1964), whose palace the garden compliment, built the Garden of Dreams in the 1920's after a visit to several Edwardian estates in England, using funds won from his father (the prime minister) in an epic Rs 100,000game of cowries shells. The garden and its pavilion was neglected to the point of abolishment but later it was revitalized over a six year period by the same Austrian financed team who formed Patan Museum.
